A Gift No One Wants

Nobody wants to get sick with the flu! This spot reminds people to stay at home if their sick. We used the idea of the flu bug as a "gift" to convey the message. The actor who played our sicky was great! He coughed and puttered around for the whole day.

It's Alive

The CK website is finally live. You can check it out at www.coateskokes.com. It took some time...maybe too much...but it's now up and running. We still have a few more things to add to it from a features and programming perspective and we'll need to keep adding fresh content. The internal response among coworkers has been great.

On The Launch Pad

The new Coates Kokes website is oh so close to launching. We're working out some of the final details and hope to take it live today! Sam, Ryan and the whole creative department have been busting it lately with programming and design tweaks.

Imelda's and Louie's Twofer

It seems last month Explore the Pearl neglected to place one of our ads for Imelda's. This month we're getting to run two ads to make up for this little oversight. Amos Hunter took some photos and we wrote some fun headlines to go with them. Hopefully they'll show up in this months edition!

Clean Energy Works Portland

The City of Portland along with some utility sponsors are piloting a unique program, Clean Energy Works Portland. It involves selecting 500 homeowners who would like to see their home receive an energy efficiency overhaul...new windows, furnace, insulation, appliances, etc. What makes this program unique is all the costs are financed through the homeowners utility bill. This eliminates one of the biggest obstacles, money up front, that prevents homeowners from taking action. We created this direct mail piece to be sent out to potential candidates and begin the selection process.

Courtesy of the Portland Timbers

We were working on some ideas for the Portland Timbers new MLS launch and one of the thoughts was to go out and pick some fights with our rivals. The Seattle Sounders was our first choice for this little customized traveling bill board.

Hartman & Forbes Website

The long awaited Hartman & Forbes website launched today! Sam Leinen and Ryan O'Rielly have been working hard the last few weeks ironing out all the details and programming issues to make the August 1st deadline. This site is one of the most comprehensive sites we've done...lots of components and very content rich. In other words, lots of places to screw it up! It comes on the heels of a 200 plus page catalog we designed for H&F. I'm anxious to see how it'll be received by the client and interior designers who'll be using the catalog and website.

Adventist Helipad

Adventist Medical Center's new pavilion has a cool new helipad on top of it. So naturally we needed to go up there and use it for a photo shoot location for an upcoming ad. Here's me and art director, Jay Fawcett, doing our Top Gun impersonation.

Efficiency Avenue

Why should residential customers be the only ones who get rebates for energy efficiency? Now with our "Efficiency Avenue" interactive site up and running, commercial customers have a new way to access rebates and get energy and cost saving information that pertains to their business.

Who knew?

There's a lot of nasty stuff that gets washed down street drains and right into our rivers and streams. Part of raising the awareness was educating the masses about what they can do to help out. That's why we created the cleanriversandstreams.org website. This interactive site is stuffed full of fun facts and tips to insure a healthier ecosystem.

Associated General Contractors

A recent study by AGC revealed the average age of construction workers to be 47. Yikes, they need some young blood! So the challenge was getting young high school aged kids interested in pursuing a career in construction. Our informative and inspiring website for AGC was just the ticket. Getconstructive.com includes a video, career path options, how to get started and we're currently working on a robust interactive job posting section.

Louie's Shoes

In these tough economic times it's good to know you can go back down the ladder and look as stylish as you did when you went up it. That was the inspiration behind this ad for Louie's that we created. Jim Carey pinned the line and the ad is running in Explore the Pearl magazine.

Avista Photo Shoot

I was in Spokane this week working with a great photographer there named Dean Davis. This is one of the photos he took for an upcoming Avista ad we're working on.

Working Girls

Nutrius makes natural product based dairy cow supplements to help maximize a dairy cows milk output. How could we not have some fun with that?

Your Little Beach Town

Pacific City is one of those quaint little Oregon coast towns that remained somewhat undiscovered. We fixed that! Actually, our client did. They developed some great real estate and hospitality offerings that just couldn't be kept secret. We developed an advertising campaign that included print, direct mail, a couple of websites and a bunch of push emails. Now all of sudden Sunset Magazine and The Oregonian are writing articles on the place and it's hard to find a room. Oh well.

SeaPort Wall

Not a great photo but you can see one of the media buys we used to promote SeaPort Airlines. It's cool seeing work up this big! The wall is very visible from I-5 and a lot of people have commented that they noticed it.

Fat Building

Can you believe it? No photoshop trickery going on here! Photographer Jim Golden found a building that was eating too much energy and was busting at the seams. April Fools!

Oregon Community Foundation

Rarely do you go into a new business presentation with spec work and end up not only winning the account but producing the pitch concepts. However, this was the case with OCF. We created this series of concepts using stock photography from Jim Erickson and the next thing you know we're producing them for real. It happened fast, but it seems like the best stuff always does.

Oregon Community Foundation cont...d

Here's a few more ads we created for OCF. We also turned some of these print concepts into web ads that were hosted on local broadcast stations websites.
